CONNIE AMADEN-CRAWFORD FASHION DESIGN SPECIALIST, EDUCATOR, AUTHOR

The American Sewing Guild awarded Connie with the 2009 selection for the Sewing Hall of Fame. Connie Crawford is a licensed designer for The McCall Pattern Company under the Butterick label and is owner of Fashion Patterns by Coni (www.fashionpatterns.com). She is a nationally recognized lecturer, fashion specialist, educator, and author of sewing and pattern textbooks, including A Guide to Fashion Sewing, The Art of Fashion Draping, and Patternmaking Made Easy. Drawing on her 35 years of experience in apparel manufacturing and 23 years teaching fashion design classes in patternmaking, sewing, and draping at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles, Connie created her own pattern line with true-to-body fit from sizes X-Small to 6X.

Connie conducts faculty workshops for various colleges, universities, and various fashion seminars in the US and Mexico. The purpose of these workshops is to update the patternmaking, draping, and sewing skills for the teaching professionals. Through power point presentations, several subjects can be reviewed in a timely manner and upgrade the knowledge in the technical area of fashion design. In addition, theories can be considered and curriculums can be reorganized to implement more efficient methods in teaching.

She has been a featured author in Sew News Magazine, Threads Magazine, and Sew Beautiful Magazine. She has also been featured in The Creative Machine Newsletter, Total Embellishments, and Notions newsletters.

She has been a guest speaker on HGTV’s SEW MUCH MORE, ABC’s TV series HOME, and appeared as a special advisor on an infomercial. She has been a guest lecturer for various fashion seminars, ASG Conferences and Chapters, PACC Chapters, Bernina Clubs, Viking Clubs, and others.

Her career spans everything from fashion name dress designing to patternmaking and design consultant. She is the designer and CEO of Fashion Patterns by Coni, designing clothing patterns for full figured women in sizes XS-L and XL to 6X.
