This season’s blouse pattern, Butterick B5300, is especially created to answer the many needs of my customers. As we know very well, wearing clothes that fit always proves to give a more flattering look and will allow your figure to look slimmer and more attractive.
My designs are developed by draping on human figures to give a true-to-the body fit. Each pattern is specially fitted for rounder shoulders, fuller stomachs, thicker waistlines and various body stances. The armholes, shoulder width and angle, hip proportion, and necklines are designed to drape correctly on most figures, making it easy to do minor adjustments for a good fit. Adjustment directions for these areas are detailed in each of my guide sheets, so it’s easy to get a good fit. The uniqueness of B5300 blouse design is that I used my fashion industry experiences in draping and spent several months draping on human figures to create the correctly fitting cup sizes for both smaller cup sizes (A/B/C) and larger cup sizes (D/DD), along with the correctly fitting neckline and shoulders. Thus my blouse pattern B5300 has separate pattern pieces for A/B/C cup sizes, and D/DD cup size. I’ve done the work for you, so you can just pick the pattern pieces that correspond to your cup size and stitch it up.
Secondly, I wanted to give my customers a blouse design with a lot of style versatility--various collar and sleeve details that can be interchanged for any occasion or season. B5300 has three neckline choices: V-neck without a collar, a classic shirt collar, and a rounder Peter Pan collar with or without lace trim. It also has three sleeve variations: Three-quarter length and short sleeve with or without a ruffle. You also have the option of making a pleated back-yoke or a plain one-piece back. With this classic blouse, you can have a wardrobe full of different looks, from dressy to casual, simply by changing fabrics and details...the options are endless. For my many customers who have wanted a DD cup pattern made especially for their bodies, I want you to get out there and make yourself a special blouse for the holidays. Add a wonderful skirt or classic pant with this and you will be all set for the holidays and many seasons to come.
A reminder to my customers: each pattern size matches the ready-to-wear sizes (in the retail stores). This makes the process of selecting your correct size pattern easier. Also, make sure that the pattern matches your full bust measurement. In this manner, you will maintain the correct armhole shape and balance, which controls the hang and fit of the sleeve.
PLEASE NOTE:
In 2009 I will be offering three ADVANCED PATTERN FITTING & DESIGN WORKSHOPS. This pattern, B5300, will be used to explain how this pattern can also be used as an “adjustment template” master pattern to overlay onto many other pattern designs and/or to create your own blouse, shirt, dress or jacket designs.
