The Crawford Certification Program for Sewing & Fitting
In a time of busy schedules and poor pattern fit, Connie Crawford’s Sewing & Fitting Certification Program saves the day with up-to-date garment fitting and construction techniques. Through a basic and comprehensive approach, the program enables sewing instructors to teach the total fitting and assembling of a garment in a logical and time-efficient sequence. Vital principles such as pattern balance, proportion, and drape are also included to help avoid common fitting problems. Upon completion of the course, students will understand methods for fitting and sewing all the details of dresses, blouses, skirts, and pants.
This program is completed through the SEWING INSTRUCTION MANUAL, a supplement to the text book “Guide to Fashion Sewing” by Connie Amaden-Crawford (Fairchild Books). The manual details a progressive method of teaching sewing through the use of practice samples and an actual clothing project. The Sewing Instruction Manual is available for purchase from Fashion Patterns by Coni. ($120 in 3-ring binder form, $25 in packet form organize your own 3-ring binder.)
Patternmaking Certification Program for the Home Clothier
2-DAY SEMINAR
This workshop takes you beyond any previous sewing and fitting classes. Connie will present many “tricks of the trade” that she learned throughout her 35 years in the garment industry. You will learn how to interchange pattern pieces to develop new styles from your favorite patterns. Fitting solutions for blouses, dresses, necklines, and sleeves will be demonstrated for any figure size. To explain and illustrate correct fit and pattern balance, 5 Basic pattern blocks will be drafted and draped directly on your body. Then you will be taught patternmaking skills on styling your own blouses, dresses, shirts, necklines, plackets, collars, yokes, pants, skirts, and many other formulas that will allow your own creative designs to come to life.
Imagine being able to create garments that drape beautifully on your body--no more gaping necklines and button closures, badly fitting sleeves, huge collars, or slacks that twist when worn! At the end of the week, you will have a custom dress form and custom master patterns that will enable you to create your own pant, skirt, blouse, shirt, vest, jacket, and dress designs. By applying the skills learned, you will once again enjoy creating a wardrobe of your own personal fashions!
This class is held in Connie’s personal studio that contains the highest quality of professional tables, equipment, and paper. Each student must make their own lodging and meal arrangements. Lunch is provided during each class day.
Contact our office to make a class reservation ($50 deposit). Once space is reserved, an information packet will be mailed containing additional class information and local lodging recommendations. ONE REQUIREMENT -- is that you KNOW HOW TO SEW. This enables everyone in attendance to move along at the same pace. Books, supplies, and equipment used in the class will be available for purchase.
